The Remodel of Beaverton Buick GMC Service Center: Western Construction Blog

What is one of the biggest challenges to remodeling a business? To renovate the business while business is being conducted! Western Construction was tasked with a challenging and unique opportunity – to remodel a car dealership, allowing business to continue fully, and do most of the demo work at night. This blog talks about how the Beaverton Buick GMC got a brand-new service center – literally overnight.

The Buick GMC location on Canyon Road was ready for an update. The service center, offices, and hallways have been used for many years and were worn and dated. The doors, flooring, tile, kitchen, and utility closets all had to go, plus the client, Lithia, wanted a more modern and approach service center for the client.

Knowing that the dealership wanted to continue in full operation during the remodel, a plan was created for Lithia to perform demolition during the evening, immediately after the dealership closed for the night.

Western Constructed worked at night, doing tear-out and demolition, and each morning just before the dealership opened, we had to have things functional, cleaned up, and out of the way! As the project progressed, Western adjusted to work during the day, allowing business to continue. In our next video, we talk with Eric Trueblood, the then Service Director for Beaverton GMC, and learn about Lithia’s decision to update the service center.

Lithia wanted to have an optimal customer service experience, take on local competitors, and change the floorplan to suit their important clientele better, and that’s when the decision to work with Western Construction once again. Lithia also described the unique challenge of having as little interruption as possible during the workday.

Another benefit of working with Western Construction, according to Eric, was the communication, daily and weekly meetings with the superintendents and project managers about the process, updates, and workflow. And of course, Project Manager David Szyplinski would bring by Crumble Cookies every Wednesday for the Lithia team as an added touch!

Western Construction completed the entire renovation project early, on budget, and to the complete satisfaction of Lithia. When you need a company that can manage challenges and hurdles and have customers love the end result… work with Western Construction.
